Dr. Richard Taylor, CTO of Vector Photonics, has won the prestigious, Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation Medal, at the annual IET Achievement Awards. The Sir Henry Royce Medal is awarded to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the advancement of science, engineering, or technology. The award is for Early Career Professionals who have excelled in the workplace within the last three years.
Richard is recognised globally for his pioneering work in developing all-semiconductor PCSELs (photonic, crystal surface-emitting laser). PCSELs are revolutionising the compound semiconductor laser industry by delivering a unique combination of low cost with high speed and power. This technology breakthrough led him to co-found Vector Photonics Ltd, in 2020. The company is expressly focused on commercialising the technology for fast-growing data communications, metal and plastic printing, LiDAR, and optical sensing markets.
The purpose of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) Achievement Awards is to recognise and inspire engineering excellence. The Sir Henry Royce Medal awards young, world-class engineers for their exceptional impact on society and contribution to the advancement of engineering and technology.
Everyone at Vector Photonics is proud of Richard and wish him many congratulations on this fabulous achievement.
