echnology Scotland CEO, Ally McInroy, was invited to a roundtable meeting and reception at 10 Downing Street to mark the first anniversary of the UK’s £1bn National Semiconductor Strategy.

The meeting, hosted by Saqib Bhatti MP, Minister for Technology and Digital Economy, also provided a platform to launch the new, independent, UK Semiconductor Institute. The institute, created to promote the voice of the industry, will bring together government, universities and the private sector to support key components of the government’s Semiconductor Strategy and provide a single point of contact to promote the sector to investors and attract foreign investment in British research expertise.

Technology Scotland CEO, Ally McInroy, said:

“It was a privilege to be invited to Downing Street and to represent our members and the wider semiconductor community in Scotland. The creation of an independent Semiconductor Institute is welcomed, and Technology Scotland look forward to working with the new body as it evolves. Scotland has a huge amount to offer, not just in semiconductors but across adjacent critical technology areas such as photonics and quantum, and we will ensure that this capability is recognised and leveraged as the semiconductor strategy accelerates into the delivery phase”.
