In the summer of 2020, Technology Scotland, through its Photonics Scotland Network, partnered with the National Manufacturing Institute for Scotland (NMIS) to conduct a thorough analysis of the future manufacturing skills requirements of Scotland’s Photonics Sector. Since then, the results of this survey, along with regular input from industry representatives, has led to the creation of a Photonics Practical Skills Course, soon to be delivered through the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy and supported by the National Transition Training Fund.

Photonics Scotland and NMIS are keen to build on this progress to date and, alongside industry partners, are exploring further opportunities for skills development. To support this, we are once again looking for wider sectoral input.

The Photonics Scotland Manufacturing Skills Survey 2022 will develop an updated picture of the sector’s current manufacturing skills and training needs, providing an opportunity for you to identify where you believe NMIS and its Manufacturing Skills Academy would be best placed to support the Scottish photonics sector as a whole.

The survey should take no more than 10 min to complete and it’s vital that we hear from as many companies as possible in order to ensure a complete understanding of the needs of the sector.

The survey deadline has been extended and will now close on 29th April 2022.
